Oradour-sur-Glane is a Second World War martyred village in Haute-Vienne, France. On 10 June 1944, the village was completely destroyed by German forces, who massacred 642 inhabitants, including 207 children.

The history of Oradour-sur-Glane
Oradour-sur-Glane was a prosperous village of 642 inhabitants in the Haute-Vienne department. On 10 June 1944, the village was occupied by German forces. The soldiers rounded up the inhabitants in the church and barns, then massacred them.
Houses and shops were set on fire. Only 56 inhabitants, who were absent from the village that day, survived.
